We’re bringing the Castlebank Stables back to life — and we need your support

If you’ve ever walked through Castlebank Park and looked at the beautiful old stone stables sitting locked and derelict behind the archway, you’ll know they have been derelict for some time. We’re delighted to share some exciting news — Lanark Community Development Trust is in the process of acquiring the Castlebank Outbuildings through a Community Asset Transfer from South Lanarkshire Council, with hopes to restore them and bring them back into use.

This is a significant moment for Lanark. The Castlebank Stables are a B-listed building with a rich history and real architectural character. After years of neglect, we believe the time is right to bring them back into use — preserving that heritage while creating something new and lasting for the town.

We have architects appointed, surveys planned, and funding applications underway. It’s still early days and there is a lot of work ahead, but we hope to have your support throughout the process.

How you can help right now

To secure the funding we need to make this restoration happen, we have to demonstrate to funders that the Lanark community stands behind this project. There are two simple but powerful ways you can show your support today.

Sign our petition. We have launched a Change.org petition calling for the restoration of the Castlebank Outbuildings. Every signature counts — it sends a direct message to funders and decision-makers that this project matters to the people of Lanark. You can sign it for free here: change.org/LCDT_CBOB26
