A Vision for Lanark: “proud of its past and confident in its future”

A Vision for Lanark – development strategy 2022–2030 (click here for document) highlights some of the area’s immense natural and cultural heritage assets – amongst the best in rural Scotland – and the great benefits and potential for community wellbeing they can bring, along with plans to unlock future business and tourism development.

The Vision for Lanark aims to maximise the opportunities these assets give to the area, working with the local community and partner organisations (Lanark Community Development Trust, Discover Lanark, South Lanarkshire Council, New Lanark Trust, the Scottish Wildlife Trust and Border Biscuits) to:

  • Improve communications and listening to what is needed and wanted in Lanark.
  • Make the most of the area’s unique cultural and natural heritage.
  • Make Lanark and the surrounding area a greener, more prosperous place to live, work and visit.
  • Instil a sense of pride in Lanark’s past and confidence in its future.

The Vision was officially launched on 19 April 2022 with its signing by all partners, showing their commitment to and ownership of the strategy.  See the launch press release here.

We hope to hold information events for the Vision for Lanark soon – watch this page!
