The aim of the Trust’s first ‘Lanark Vision’, prepared after public consultation in 2014, is enable Lanark to fulfil its potential through a range of strategic projects designed to improve the town centre, drive visitor footfall and create a positive brand image for Lanark. Lanark Community Development Trust wishes to celebrate Lanark’s links with the historic Clydesdale Horse breed by erecting a magnificent public arts sculpture.
Built remains from as early as the 6th century have been discovered at St Kentigern’s Church, making it one of the oldest historic sites in Lanark. Our aim is to see this significant building saved from further deterioration and instated as an important tourist attraction, meriting its historical importance.
