Castlebank Horticultural Centre
We’ve had a busy week a the Horticultural Centre. We have began an 11-week programme with Lanark Grammar School First year students working towards a JASS Award. They will be visiting in groups to help create an edible forest garden in the Fairy Dell. We’ve also started a fruit tree planting project with local primary schools, the weather hasn’t been great but the mud has been good fun! At the centre we have hosted our first photography workshop of the year with Northaway Photography, and there is another one planned for this Saturday 1st February.
We’re busy planning our 2020 programme of workshops, events and activities with booking now open for many of them – click here to view the current list of What’s On.
Great news! We have received £1,000 from The National Lottery Community Fund Scotland’s #CelebrateNationalLottery25 funding pot towards our Clydesdale Horse project. The funds will support a celebration event when the sculpture is launched and public engagement programme. We are aiming to raise est £40,000 to create a magnificent sculpture celebrating Lanark’s historic links with the Clydesdale Horse breed. We’re also creating an educational booklet about the history of the Clydesdale. If you would like to get involved, please get in touch!
FlowerFest will return to Castlebank Park from 8th – 10th May 2020! This year’s festival theme will be VE DAY’ to tie in with the national celebrations of VE Day’s 75th anniversary. Expect the same fantastic selection of garden centre pagodas, craft tent, kids rides, food & drink and daily entertainment.
