Over the October Week, we hosted two Autumn Family Gardening Club sessions at Castlebank Horticultural Centre. The sell-out sessions were great fun, and lots was learned about nature and gardening activities in autumn. The next session will take place on Monday 18th November (In-service day) from 10.30am – 12.30pm. £3 per child, adults free. Booking is open now on 01555 728 329 or

Coming up at the centre, we’re hosting a ‘Family Halloween Event’ on Thursday 31st October. Drop-in after school from 3.30pm – 6.30pm for an afternoon of fun-filled activities! Spooky Trail, Halloween Games, Nature Crafts and Costume Competition. Plus…are you brave enough to meet our new carnivorous plants!? Kids £4, Adults & babies free. Tickets can be booked online at Eventbrite or paid at the door.

Our next horticultural workshop is a ‘Winter Tree ID session’ on Sunday 24th November. Discover the clues to identifying evergreen and deciduous trees in winter. The workshop will include examining the key features of bare stems and winter buds, followed by an ID walk in Castlebank Park to put our learnings into practice. The workshop will be led by Stuart Ritchie MsC, Educational Gardener at Castlebank Horticultural Centre. 12.30pm – 2.30pm | £8 per person. To book, email or call 01555 728 329.
